

Thanks to its regional coverage, the network of CaixaBank branches is able to support the La Caixa Foundation in its social outreach efforts and identifies the needs of local social organisations such as the Real Madrid Foundation and allocates a part of its budget to the Foundation. The ties between the Real Madrid Foundation and the La Caixa Foundation go back to 2008, with the two organisations having joined forces on various projects in several areas of social work. Meanwhile, Vidal sought to stress “the importance of solidarity and collaboration between the various organisations and institutions to protect those in vulnerable situations”. In the 2021/22 season, over 500 minors are taking part in the programme.ĭuring the course of the visit, Roberto Carlos highlighted the importance of sport and the collaboration between the public and private sectors to support those in greatest need: “Sport represents a school in positive values for minors who need to be shown the right path”. The weekly football and values training sessions serve to improve the self-esteem and attitude of the young residents and increase their feeling of belonging, which offers them stability.

The programme is run in 15 centres across the region and 10 throughout the rest of Spain, thanks to the collaboration of sponsors such as CaixaBank, which, thanks to the investment of the La Caixa Foundation, has shown its support for this project, which promotes values through sporting activity. The Real Madrid Foundation launched its socio-sporting activities in youth centres nine seasons ago as a part of its ongoing partnership with the Community of Madrid in various fields. Real Madrid and Real Madrid Foundation ambassador, Roberto Carlos, joined Juan Luis Vidal, area director of CaixaBank in South Madrid, in a visit to the Real Madrid Foundation’s socio-sporting programme at the Picón de Jarama youth protection centre in the Community of Madrid.
